This, ladies and gentlemen, is the poster child for getting
your ROMs dumped. If it wasn't for a backup copy of this game existing, none of us would ever
have seen it dumped and available to play. The story goes as such: DreamTR purchased this
game from a party who has not been identified knowing that this particular prototype did
not work. Upon recieving the game, it was sent along to a dumper. There was something wrong
with the EPROM itself, but through some trial and error, the ROM dump was recovered from the
game by removing the chip from the socket and doing a raw dump. After the dump, the ROM chip
failed completely. The dumper burned DreamTR a new EPROM from the dumped data, and sent him
both the backup of the game as well as the newly restored cart. Only there was still a problem...

There was an error in restoring the data to the EPROM - the released version
somehow was burned onto the EPROM instead of the prototype version! However, all was not lost. The
backup ROM was still the prototype data. With another burn of an EPROM, and plugging it into
the prototype cart, the proto was restored to its original glory and the data wasn't lost to us all.
Unfortunately, the story behind the cart is more interesting than the ROM itself. All
that I've found different between this version and the final version is the changed title screen.
It's a lot more bland than the final title screen, and Tecmo made the right decision in this case.

This should be a moral to you all - GET THOSE EPROM BASED PROTOTYPES DUMPED!!!
It's up to you in the end if you want to be the generous hero that releases the unknown game for
all to play, or simply just want to hoard it for yourself, think of how this one could have ended up!
Please, see my Bit-Rot page on the main page if you want more information...
(Yes, the
dumper of this one will not be posted - it was an honest mistake that shouldn't be held against him.)
