WOW! I used to spend hours on this game, never being able
to make it past level 8 of this game. Victims of my playing this game: two smashed
controllers, a nice crack in the tile floor of my childhood house, a broken NES Max, and
my sanity. Now don't get me wrong, I loved this game, but it was HARD AS HELL!! Anyway, if
you remember back in the day looking at the magazine reviews of this game, more often than not
the magazine reviews had many impossible situations in the game, such as being in the 5th or
6th level without getting the "hover" upgrade for the Sofia. Well, this game is the reason
those shots existed.

| This version of Blaster Master is, for all intents and purposes,
the final release version of the game with one major addition - the game contains a stage select
that didn't make it into the final version even as a hidden feature! While it may sound like
the Blaster Master fan's dream, unfortunately the stage select is just a quick-hack stage select.
You can pick any level you want to start at, but you don't get any of the weapons or upgrades
that you would normally have at the points in the game to warp to. Oh well, at least I've seen
the last boss now. =D For the stage select, numbers 01 through 08 give you the levels 1 through
8, and the next 8 selections give you the respective boss for each level.

Sigh, I like this game so much, but I've never been able to complete it.
Oh well. There are two other oddities to note in this beta - the status screen that appears when
you pause the game does not appear, so you cannot pick a special weapon besides the default
homing missles. Also, the "face" enemy that blocks the way to the second level is completely
glitched out. The reason for this is unknown - both of these items were fine in Metafight, the
Japanese version of this game. Possibly just a programming glitch, but at this point, we'll
probably never hear the reason for this....
