Prototype ROM
Released Commercially
Owner and dumper unknown.

Still the winner for the most bizzare title for a NES game after many years, Astyanax was released to a generally non-receptive audience and has languished as one of those overlooked titles for many years. The game itself isn't a bad one - its just not unique in any way - just another average side scroller. This prototype was bought from the same woman in Texas who sold off many prototypes, including Blaster Master with stage select. The game does not appear to be any different than the commercial release, but the CRC32 of the ROM is different than the release version. Bugfixes possibly, but it IS different in some way... if you find any differences, let me know!
Boobies!

Several people on #fefea told me about this one all right about the same time. The picture on the left above is from the prototype, and the one on the right is from the final released version of the game. If you notice, Medusa seems to have lost one gigantic set of hooters to the Nintendo censors.
