While many of us may consider
the 7800 among our favorite system, it was a complete and unabashed
failure in the marketplace thanks to the stupid, bumbling decisions of the
Tramiels. One other side effect of the failure of the 7800 is that there
haven't been a lot of prototypes discovered for the system - only three so
far. However, judging from some of the released games as well as this
particular prototype, if the Tramiels hadn't f**ked up so bad with the
7800's release, the videogame market might be a completely different
ballgame now... |

Now, this is an EXCELLENT
conversion of the puzzle game Klax. This game was ported
to just about every single platform known to man, so if
you don't know how to play this one, where the hell have
you been? =) All kidding aside, there is one small glitch
with this ROM - in the only working 7800 emulator, MESS,
the ROM will lock up on the Atari Fugi. Simply reset the
emulated machine (press the R key if you still have the
default controls) and the game will start. |

This is a surprisingly good
port of Klax. From the earlier games in the 7800's
library, I sure didn't think it had to power to put out
graphics on this level. However, since I've begun
collecting 7800 games again, I keep getting proven
wrong. It's too bad that we couldn't look over into
another dimention to see what would have happened if the
7800 saw release in 1984 like it was intended to, instead
of in '86, post-NES launch...
