I honestly wish that I had more to say about this game. All of
us who bought the Supercharger back in the day would have loved even just one more game. Hell,
my Supercharger is one of the original Arcadia ones, not a Starpath one. Just to fill in
some random space that unfortunately, the review of this game will not ever fill in, I have
to throw some props to the Cyberpunks. I lost many of my tapes years ago but got a copy of Stella
gets a New Brain v2 with the Cuttle Cart I ordered a while ago. Both products were quite impressive,
and I look forward to the Cuttle Cart 2! |

Sigh, as good as the few graphics you all see are for the 2600,
it doesn't seem like this game got very far outside of the R&D department. Originally supposed
to have 10 different, unique events, this prototype has only one event implemented in it. The
screen above is the menu that you get when the game is loaded. "Single Event" and "Practice"
are the only ones that function in this version - you can select Decathlon, and even enter
your name, but all the game does is suggest "Why not pick a different event." In "Single Event"
and "Practice," the only functional games are the 100 Meters, 400 Meters, and Hurdles. Controls
are non-existent - the only control that even functions is the 2nd player fire button, which
makes the character jump. However, since there is no collision detection implemented, this
control is absolutely useless. |

Supposedly, there is another prototype tape from the Sweat! game.
It's one of the other events, the Discus. Unfortunately, other than the single screenshot that
I found on Tempest's excellent site, AtariProtos, I've
found no other information about that additional event. If any more information about this
prototype ever becomes available, I will post it here. |

Well, all wasn't lost with this one - the game idea (but apparantly
not much of the game code) was turned into Epyx's Summer Games. Although this game looks a whole
lot better than Summer Games ended up being, this game unfortunately is woefully incomplete. Hopefully,
a more complete version will surface one day, but it looks like this may be all that was
completed before the Crash...
