Prototype ROM
Released Commercially as a Supercharger tape.
Owned and dumped by Marco K.

This is another one of those prototypes that just cannot be immediately explained. Rabbit Transit was one of the games released for the Starpath Supercharger as an audio cassette to be loaded through the Supercharger interface. Recently however, Marco K. dumped his copy of a cartridge version of Rabbit Transit. It is unknown which version was the initial first version and which was the conversion, but there are a few differences between the two versions. It should also be noted that this ROM version of the game came in an Atari Lab Loner label cart.
While they are minor differences, there are differences between the two versions of Rabbit Transit. On the cartridge version of the game, the title on the title screen is bigger, "Pop goes the Weasel" plays on the title screen on the cartridge version, the demo in the beginning cycles between several different screens while the Starpath version does not, and the second screen has a more limited color pattern. On that second screen, in the Starpath version of the game, the platforms change colors depending on how many times you have been through the game and will change to a third color if the man drops the ball on them - the cartridge only changes between dark and light green. Not the most significant changes in the world, but at least it shows this isn't a hacked ROM...
This was one of the more fun Starpath games when it was released for that cartridge. Unfortunately, this ROM brings with it more questions than answers... Was this an Atari game and then sold to Starpath? Did Atari buy this game when Starpath eventually went under? Unfortunately, it appears these questions will never be answered...
